✏️How do I open an account?

In order to be eligible to open an account on Kalshi, you must:

• Be 18 years or older

• Have a legal, U.S. residential address within the 50 states, D.C., or U.S. territories

• Have a bank account that is able to be linked to Kalshi

To open an account on Kalshi, click here. You will need to provide some basic personal information, and you may be asked for further verification using a U.S. driver's license as well. If your application was confirmed you are all set: you can log in and start trading. In the event that we need more information, the email you receive will describe the next steps.

Kalshi is required to collect the information it does at sign-up in order to comply with U.S. government laws and CFTC rules and regulations. These regulations require Kalshi to be able to verify the identity of any person(s) opening an account and to maintain records of their information. We will request personal information from both new and existing customers as required by these regulations. We take the security of personal information and all data maintained seriously, and use it only for regulatory compliance. In many cases, we need more information because an address was invalid or another field was entered incorrectly during sign-up. To avoid delays please verify all your information before submitting.

Sign-up Under Review

If your signup is under review our team is working to get your account approved! This can take up to 24 hours and it might be a result of your information being inaccurate or the information from a duplicate account.

Email Verification

All users who do not sign up with Apple ID or Google Sign-in must use their own email address. Emails can be verified with a six-digit code sent to their email. If you do not see a code please check your spam folder and wait up to 20 minutes. This email will also be used for multi-factor authentication so make sure you have access to it!

Phone Verification

Duplicate Accounts

Users on Kalshi are only allowed to trade on one account. If you try to open more than one account the application will automatically be denied. If you need help accessing your old Kalshi account we suggest you reset your password here!

Why do you need my Address?

We are required to obtain this information for all Kalshi users as we are federally regulated by the CFTC. All addresses on Kalshi must be in the United States and can not be commercial or PO boxes!

Why do you need my ID?

We are required to obtain this information for all Kalshi users as we are federally regulated by the CFTC. Valid identification includes a driver's license as well as a passport. The information on your photo ID must align with the information on your Kalshi profile and cannot be a picture taken from a screen.

Why do you need my SSN?

We are required to obtain this information for all Kalshi users as we are federally regulated by the CFTC. All Kalshi users must provide an SSN to trade on Kalshi just like you would on a stock broker! Kalshi does not accept EINs or ITINs.

How was my SSN autofilled?

Kalshi uses a service called Verified to obtain this information. Verified leverages telecom, bank, credit bureau, and publicly accessible data sources to pre-fill high-fidelity data — always with user consent. All sensitive data is stored in a separate, isolated environment with strict access control, encrypted in transit and at rest, and tokenized so that as much data processing as possible is done with nonsensitive aliases.
