To ensure adherence to the requirements set forth by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), it is imperative for us to obtain certain details from all users of the Kalshi platform. Users should provide residential addresses that are situated within the boundaries of the United States. It is important to recognize that we are unable to accept any addresses that are commercial in nature or that are associated with PO boxes.
We are mandated to gather this specific information from all Kalshi users due to our regulatory obligations as governed by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). As part of this process, users must provide valid identification, which can include either a driver's license or a passport. It is imperative that the information displayed on your chosen form of photo identification corresponds precisely with the details provided in your Kalshi profile. Additionally, please ensure that your ID is not represented through a picture or image taken from a screen, as we require clear, original copies to complete verification. This verification step is crucial to maintaining compliance and upholding the standards set forth by our regulatory frameworks.
As a federally regulated platform by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Kalshi is required to adhere to stringent regulatory standards. As part of these regulatory requirements, all Kalshi users must provide their Social Security Number (SSN) to participate in trading activities on the platform. This process is similar to opening an account with a traditional stock broker, where proof of identity is essential for compliance and security purposes. It is important to note that Kalshi does not accept Employer Identification Numbers (EINs) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs) as substitutes for SSNs.
Kalshi uses a service called Verified to obtain this information. Verified leverages telecom, bank, credit bureau, and publicly accessible data sources to pre-fill high-fidelity data — always with user consent. All sensitive data is stored in a separate, isolated environment with strict access control, encrypted in transit and at rest, and tokenized so that as much data processing as possible is done with nonsensitive aliases.
